Haverford Haven | Full Renovation in Haverford, PA

Haverford Haven is a stone home on the Philadelphia Main Line, bought for the chapter ahead rather than carried forward from an earlier one. Two people with children grown and gone. A house chosen, then renovated just as deliberately, by a woman who knew exactly how she wanted to feel walking into it.

The scope of this home renovation was the first floor: a cohesive revival of six rooms that now read as one decision, centered on entertaining and quiet moments of togetherness.

The stair hall, living room, receiving room, dining room, and new orangerie, built by E.B. Mahoney Builders, were resolved together, so that nothing announces itself, and what comes through instead is the homeowner's refinement and her ease of living.

The bespoke chandelier and the decorative lighting throughout were chosen not only for scale and impact, but for what they say about faithfulness and longevity.

Vivian designed the custom entry console from a redwood slab the homeowner chose herself. Fabric patterns and colors bring a settled calm, and reference two coasts, East and West, each part of their history.

The work of Evermore, Vivian's Main Line interior design studio, was to blend a West Coast sense of natural rawness with the stately presence of the Main Line, so that the house she and her partner came home to would not read as a style, or as her designer, but as something truly personal.
