She reviews the architectural set before it's final, walks the site through every phase, and catches the things that are cheap to fix on paper and expensive to fix in drywall: a wall that should shift ten inches, a window fighting the furniture plan, a ceiling detail nobody drew.

When should I bring an interior designer into a new construction project?

Ideally, at the same time as your architect — before plans are finalized. Involving your interior designer during the architectural phase means room dimensions, window placement, lighting plans, and electrical layouts are designed around how you will actually live and furnish each space, rather than adjusted afterward at additional cost.
Do you work with my architect and builder?

Yes — collaboratively and fluently. Vivian has spent twenty years working alongside architects and builders on large-scale new builds and renovations. She reads drawings, understands structure, and speaks the language of the job site, which means design intent survives all the way through construction. Builders who have worked with her describe her the same way: she follows through, works to schedule, and is boots on the ground.
How long does interior design for a new construction home take?

Interior design runs in parallel with your build rather than adding time to it. Design and documentation typically begin alongside architectural planning, selections and procurement proceed during construction, and installation is timed to your builder's completion. Most new construction projects span twelve months to two years depending on the scale of the home.
